Frogs are tailless amphibians. Largely carnivorous, they come in a variety of colours and sizes, ranging from less than half an inch to 13 inches long and the largest can weigh over 7 pounds. Because of the extremely large variety, frogs live in many different habitats across the world. There are hundreds of species in habitats such as lakes, ponds, streams and wetlands but they also live in sand dunes, rainforests, woodlands, parks and gardens. You can find them virtually everywhere across the globe apart from the Arctic and Antarctica. The greatest number of species live in tropical regions or areas with warm temperatures and high rainfall. Their diet depends on the species and size, some common prey includes ants, beetles, grasshoppers and crickets. Some larger frogs will even eat small mammals like mice.
