The Alpaca is a domestic hoofed mammal that originated in South America. There are only two breeds of Alpaca, the Huacaya and the Suri. Alpacas are fluffy animals and stand about 3.5 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh around 130 lbs. They have long legs, long necks and long ears. Alpacas are herbivores and eat only plants. Some of their favorite grasses include tussock grass, rushes and rye grasses.
